Does anyone make a expanding steerer plug for non carbon forks? Will carbon ones work on steel steerers? My fork steerer ID is too wide so star nuts just pull straight out when I try to tension the headset

i had tried this, but it was pretty noisy, and the plug kept pulling away from the fork when tightening the top cap bolt. have you tried using a 1'' star nut?(assuming the steerer is 1 1/8'').
that's what i ended up doing for my alpina when 1 1/8 didn't fit.

Surely a 1 inch star nut would be smaller than a 1 1/8th?

Ive ordered a Hope so i'll see if it works. Will rough up the inside the the steerer and use grip paste everywhere, hopefully it wont creak or slip
