he was 12th in the TT and 4th in the lap at world champs but his form's better now

He came 4th in the flying lap at Worlds and was mid-pack for the TT. That said, he was mid-pack for the 4000m IP too so potentially a lot of ground to be gained there as well.

What Wayde van Niekerk just did was ridiculous. I genuinely thought that if James couldn't break that record it was safe for another generation, but to nearly break 43 from lane 8 is mad. That together with Ayana's demolition of the 10000 are my athletics highlights so far.
