What should are the considerations to make, or implications to understand, of fork rake on a 72degree headtube?
Using a fork designed for a steeper head angle on a shallower one will result in less trail. Not likely to be an issue if you use a 40-45mm offset with 72deg rather than 73deg, tyre choice and inflation will make more difference than a few mm of mechanical trail.

Have I managed to fuck up installing the chainrings on my 46/30 OX601D cranks somehow? I'm getting chain rub/suck in anything but the biggest 4 sprockets, even with a drive side spacer so the rings clear the stay. The chain line is still almost straight at this point. They seem much narrower than the 42/26 10sp setup I put on my gf's bike which has no issues even completely cross-chained

Only thing I can think of is that the 9sp chain is too wide, but 6.6 to 5.8(?) doesn't sound like enough of a difference

Chainrings look close together, should there be (or could you add) shims between the inner ring and the spider?

We got an ikea one about 10 months ago. I'm pretty sure you can order, try and return if you aren't happy. Can't fault mine.

None of the images or documentation suggest there should be, but I'm considering it

Any idea where I can get something similar to this from a UK supplier? Don't necessarily need slide-adjustability, just want to lower my bottle cages to fit a framebag.
edit: found a pic I saved to my harddrive of a non-slidey one which would probably be better, no idea where I got it from though.

What is a bar with a flat bottom like this called?
Are there any middle range ones this shape?
These are zipp ones which seem to cost an arm and a leg -

If you set them up wrong, you could use most any drop bar to achieve that horizontal position.
Nitto makes all kinds of classic bars too. -

I've used this one. Evans stock them too

Can't remember exactly but is the inner ring "ramped" around the bolts? I know the outer is and looks to be the right way round.
I ran 8 speed when I first used them before changing the rings and don't remember having that issue, maybe my chainstays were longer...

Mount Skidmore?
Someone in the Transcon thread was making them too, think they were based in Spain but happy to post

The teeth on the inner are biased towards the big ring the way I have it installed, but that's the way round that the bolts sit flush. Very odd

In addition to the replies above, Zipp tend to do the same shape bars in different ranges- the Service Course range is normally affordable (I just got a new pair for £26), Service Course SL are lighter and more expensive, and carbon obviously more so.

For some bonkers reason one of my cannondale's uses a 31.2mm seaport clamp, where can I get another or can will a 31.8 kill me?
-
• #78145
Crank update: flipping the ring over caused the chain to jam inbetween the two rings on the downshift, but changing to a 10sp chain has at least stopped it catching and killing me, even if the rub hasn't completely gone, so that'll do. Actually shifts as well and runs smoother on the back too

31.2mm seaport clamp
31.8 is quite likely to close up before it clamps, 0.6mm diameter means about 2mm more circumference.
Should be easy enough to get the right size shipped to you at your seaport 🚢

Inverse shim?
They are for the carbon cranks, and the hidden bolt. For the non hidden ones on metal UT cranks, standard bolts fit.
