The fact that the bearings are fitted to the crank (rather than in the cup), is one of the things that makes UT great: the (cheap) cups wear out, rather than the (not so cheap) cranks.
Changing the bearings is straight forward and isn't something you'll be doing very often anyway.
However my CULT bearings gave up after 2 months of use from new. Luckily I replaced them with USB ones and they are spinning smoothly for more than 2 years.
