    At a guess, I suspect they don't run for long enough

    Continuing my guess, I'd imagine it would be like putting fairings on a tipper truck; the base shape is so un-aero that any gain you get is going to be so marginal it's difficult to pull the gain out from the noise.

    That said I'm sure @umop3pisdn etc has some better formed thoughts on it than I.

    Bolt might not be worried if he's winning by 10 times that margin, but Keston Bledman failed to progress to the next stage of the 100m competition by <0.01s, and in the women's final Christania Williams missed out on a medal by less than 0.01s
