OK, so the same as me. The XRS is meant to be a bit taller, but I was wondering what a 'bit' actually relates to.
I'd rather not go the finance route at the moment. For my needs I think £2-3k is more than enough to be spending and should get me something usable.
The main pain at the moment is finding the time (and places) to look at and try bikes out. They all seem to be in West London and closed outside working hours.

Norfolk 300 are raffling off an XSR900 60th aniv edition, £5 a ticket and 4000 being sold (not bad little earner for the charity)
Not shilling or affiliated, etc.
Seems to be for a good cause and I might get a new bike for a tenner. -

The xsr is definitely a bit taller than the MT even thought they're basically the same. Had a go on both and loved 'em, but the seat on the MT seems to be a bit comfier. The xsr had a relatively sharp edged seat that got uncomfortable fast.
Not sure why taller. I've heard talk that despite being the same chassis to a degree, Yamaha is testing the ground with the xsr to develop a proper scrambler as they're popular at the moment, which apparently means a taller bike.
Aftermarket parts for it would fucking wreck your wallet. Tempting. -

My Triumph was nicked today. In the two fucking days without insurance while I dithered over whether I wanted to sell it. So what a waste of fucking money that all was.
If anyone wants panniers, a Hein Gericke 2-piece suit, jacket, Alpinestars gloves or some ageing Dainese touring boots on the cheap let me know so I have some money available to drink away my misery.

Oh no. Don't give up thinking you might get it back. Have you spoken to police about cctv?
-
• #8235
Outside my house so there's no cameras anywhere :(

How tall are you?
Also: bastards. Sorry.
:(

tnx. 1.83, 2-piece trousers are like a 34 and jacket is a size up, so maybe 44-46? Lone Jacket is around a 42, snugger and slimmer.
Also have some RST blue jeans and black Draggin' jeans in 34ish

@Tomvanhalen I would recommend that you call the police impound to check if the bike hasn't recovered.
My motorbike was 'borrowed' last year and taken to the police impound for 10 DAYS before the police contacted me. My registration plate is F!!TUR and they had recorded it as F!!TUK so they never called me...
In the meantime, they charged me £150 recovery fee + £10/day for the pleasure. Made me really mad.I might be interested in some kit, photos and price pending obvs.

That's awful news.
I could be interested in the gloves (s - m / 9-10) and maybe jeans.
Hope it turns up.

Bastards. Keep your chin up dude, I'm praying to the gods of thieving scrotes that they get caught and you get it back.

I'll be in Norwich in a couple of weeks time so could potentially ferry bits for others (or collect them for myself)

Does anyone have any tips for sticking panels/fairings down?
I finally finished mending the cracked fasteners for the fairings on my bike (plastic welding as seen here https://youtu.be/61iyLarL258
).Now everything is finished there are a couple of spots where the panels aren't as flush as I'd like. I'm guessing this is just down to aging as everything is well seated.
I'm thinking of some sort of medium strength double sided padded tape - like a softer version of that No More Nails double sided tape.
I want it to be soft enough to pull off (chuckles) to access the bike.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Servo mounting tape as used in radio control models?

I now want and RC car ;)
Cheers. The key thing is being able to lift. I found a RC forum thread which was discusing the need for it to be thick for vibration resistance.
Another suggestion was Velcro, which for this application sounds like a really good idea.

Right, I've had the payout on the written off 748 and am progressing the personal injury and uninsured losses claim. So, it's time to start thinking about the new bike. Whilst my heart is drawn towards a Panigale, my head is telling me otherwise. I don't get out on the bike as often as I used to and a change in my circumstances means that blowing all the money might be a luxury i should resist. The alternatives (all used) I'm considering are:
MV Agusta F4 1000 - unnecessarily exotic? will it spend more time at the garage than on the road?
Ducati 848 Evo - possibly the most sensible choice? Really usable on the road and track.
Ducati 1098S - gets better reviews than the 1198S, worth the extra money over the 848?
Ducati 999S (or possibly R) - marmite, but you get a lot of extra spec for the money
Honda Fireblade - just not sure I can bring myself to do it
Any thoughts on or experience of the above? It's going to be a few weeks yet...

To state the obvious, go ride them all.
Or at least sit on them. -
• #8248
I've ridden a 999 bip and a Blade, but yep, will try the others. MV will be the trickiest to pin down for a test.

MVs are lovely.
Remember when I was at Xbikes and had some in having work. Beautiful.

the bmw 1000 sports is one of the best out there currently
I'm 174cm so could be taller :)
I now have the Tracer 900 which is much bigger and an even nicer bike to rider but it's nowhere near as good in traffic.
As for cost, you'd probably be better off with a new one on PCP. MiYamaha (shit name) is their finance thing and offers ridiculously low rates but you need to treat it more like a rental or service fee as the final payment will be somewhere near 50% of the cost of the bike.
edit: 4.9% over 37 months. £110 a month with only £500 down or £63 a month with £1,500 down. Both with £2,600 final value payment (or swap for a new one...): http://www.yamahafinance.co.uk/motorbikes/hyper-naked/mt-07-abs/?type=&mileage=6000&deposit=1500.00&monMin=0&monMax=60&calc=
