  • Shh!

  • Hmm, I wasn't going to take the bike as general chatter seems to suggest that cycling over there is alternating abuse from bogans and coppers, until one of them runs you over (and then gives you a ticket for your helmet coming off).

I.e. Cycling is a shit, miserable thing to do in Oz, is this not true?

  • go to the beach instead

  • Volvo estates are not getting cheaper!

Defo a good time to fill a barn with them, well, maybe about 5-8 years too late for that. looking for a tidy enough 145 or V90/960 facelift in a suitably period colour, baby sick yellow or mauve/dark green respectively.

  • I know someone who gave up cycling in Aus because of an altercation with the law.

  • Well, after a comprehensive and frustrating failure to do so yesterday, I finally got to test drive a couple of C6 RS6 Avants today. What a gloriously silly car. I definitely want one. Probably the one I drove this afternoon. Going to sleep on it tonight and make a decision tomorrow.

  • What spec are you looking at? I've never driven a C6 but spent quite a bit of time in various C5's. As you said, the first gen is a totally silly car in the best possible way. Nothing that big should be that quick and it was a hoot.

I ended up selling one to a customer who used to run a Mondeo daily and had a TVR as his weekend car. The RS6 was bought to do the job of two cars. After using it daily to do decent mileage, he soon realised that 500-600quid a month on fuel was unsustainable and he went back to owning 2 cars again and saved money.

My uncle then went on to buy the same car and when the DRC suspension went, he put it on a set of KW coilovers to circumvent the huge cost of replacing the DRC parts needed.

  • Erin lives right around the corner from the Rapha shop in Sydney, loads of Lycra twats everywhere... Take the bike...

  • What spec are you looking at?

Standard spec Daytona Grey C6 RS6 Avant with black leather and some choice upgrades (BOSE, DAB radio, rear camera). It has that deceptive effortless warp-speed acceleration I'm after. It doesn't seem that fast, but everything else suddenly seems to be going very slowly...

  • Sounds really nice. I completely agree. Theres no real drama to the acceleration. It gets a bit noisier but the real give away is that you catch up with things at an alarming rate and then you catch a glimpse at the speedo.

  • not considered a na 6.2l c63 estate then.?

    stage 1,2,3 supercharge upgrades, etc

  • Noooo, for entirely irrational reasons I just can't see myself as a Mercedes driver. And my current rule is no modifications. Too much hassle.

  • Ah C6. I take it all back. That has a beautiful derriere.

  • Sod it, you only live once. Deposit paid.

  • Get some decent pics of it yo. Dude I know got GF Williams shoot. Not sure on price.

  • Fucking GF Williams. That guy lives the dream.

  • Ha, blurry smartphone picture taken at dusk, if you're lucky...

  • Talented no doubt, but even better at marketing. :o)

I think he has some Evo / Autocar / Etc front covers under his belt now.

  • I emailed the chap re:996, but he's not got back to me.

  • Don't worry, I can't get to south London in the next few weeks anyway and if the last 3 months are anything to go by every week you leave it it gets £250 cheaper. :)

  • Fuk yeh!

I wouldn't have one because I have a caring, sharing image to uphold and Audis are only driven by aggressive alpha male types.

Besides, I'm more than happy with an automatic diesel Golf. The MPG is outstanding. I'll take a photo of the trip computer and send it to you.

Whilst the reducing price is a positive it also means that it might be purchased by someone else.

I noted that there is an indy Porsche garage called Belgravia Garages fairly nearby - gave them a call this morning to see if they'd inspect it, but they've not bothered ringing me back.

  • All this adds weight to my theory that pretty much everyone is shit.

I don't know who's good in that neck of the woods.

Where are RSJ Sportscars? They might be worth a call.

For North London I'd talk to HP Motorsport. They might travel.

The OPC would be a fair option too.

    Or Peter Morgan.

  • The chap might be on holiday, who knows. What I do know is that I've made a decision and wish to get a move on.
