Jordaan, de Pijp, Negen straatjes could be up your street. Albert Cuyp is nice too. Loods 6, foodhallen, ten katemarkt and noordermarkt are worth a shout too.
Buy all the cheese you can get your hands on and your luggage allowance allows.

While we're on the subject of cheese, there's a great farmer's market on the Nieuwmarkt saturday. Avoid Old Amsterdam and generally all touristy cheese shops you'll find in the center, they're all shit and horribly overpriced.

You can buy a really decent normal bike for that money without a big android phone glued to your stem.

I get that. I sold my BMC GF01 di2 at a profit over here and getting this would cost me less than $1,000 which makes it a very attractive alternative.
I can always sell it on and still not lose money but spending $2k on a startup brand kind of worries me a bit. -

^ that review should be enough to put you off.
On a more serious note, have they actually delivered any bikes into the hands of customers yet (website states 'will be delivered to kickstarter backers in Aug, and Indiegogo backers in Sep')? there's a distinct lack of images online of bikes that aren't from reviews or product shots
also the fact they send it to tech blogs for hands on reviews rather than bike blogs suggests the ride quality might leave something to be desired.
they didn't leave these bikes for a ride review http://road.cc/content/tech-news/194834-first-look-speedx-leopard-and-leopard-pro-smart-road-bikes

It's just a China direct Venge knock off isn't it?

that engadget review is proper twaddle.

do they do different stem lengths etc? if not getting one to fit would be an utter lottery.

• #78088
Pretty sure I do, swap for a borrow of those tyres?

Remind me which tyres?

@fredtc, if you've already completed the disk wipe, maybe dban from here http://www.dban.org/
from memory it can boot a machine from CD/USB, so no messing around opeing it up etc, and will wipe to DDOS standards. -

Anyone buy their specs online? Any recommendations for place to buy from?

I will have two next week. You can haz one if you come and remove my cannondale cranks. Am assuming my two bsa30 bbs will come with a tool for each one. UPS says delivery on Monday.

I've got this Park Tools one;
Trouble is, I'm on holiday for ten days from tomorrow morning and I've stuff to do today.

Just bought a budget pair from SelectSpecs (£16 incl. postage). Came quicker than they estimated and fit better than any pair I've had from Specsavers, as good as the more expensive Boots pairs I've had too. For the price, highly recommended.

I am assuming you mean the rotor one? It appears that they have their own tooling for their BSA30 BBs. I am also assuming the two BBs I have on order will come with a tool for each. In which case you could have one to keep.

I've used lensway a few times with no problems. Worth signing up to their mailing list as they send out some decent special offers.
I always hold out for the offers on ultrathin lens as I'm pretty short-sighted (-6) so glasses normally cost a fortune. Got my last pair for thirty quid.
Museums: Try to visit the Rijksmuseum in the morning of later hours because it can be very busy, the Hermitage is also great if you want something different and less crowded.
Bars: Café Fonteyn on the Nieuwmarkt square is great in the evenings, be sure to order a 'Zatte' or a 'kopstoot' for the full Amsterdam experience ;)
If the weather's good go visit Hanneke's Boom, it's near the central station.
There's also some nice bars on the Linnaeusstraat near the Tropenmuseum.
In the northern area the Tolhuistuin and I really recommend visiting 'de Ceuvel' if the weather's good.
Food: The best french fries can be found at Vleminckx near the Kalverstraat, the best Kebab can be found at Safak, also be sure to get a Kalfsvleeskroket at your local FEBO. For a real restaurant looks on Iens.nl and pick one you like
Avoid the Leidseplein, it's generally full of shit!
