Yep, didn't notice it at first..

They didn't give me one - I'm not fussed since I have not needed it, plus I heard it was not great any way.

I'm looking to hire a Brompton for a couple of months. Anyone selling one or have a spare they want to make a few £ from..? (Not sure anyone does this commercially?)

Is there an electric Brompton coming this year?
-
• #2083
Highly doubt it, there is an aftermarket one but it add a lots of weight.

I was reading this : http://www.alwaysriding.co.uk/features/is-the-electric-brompton-the-holy-grail-of-urban-cycling/
I tried out an electric mountain bike and thought it was great. An eBrompton would be pretty awesome if it's not too expensive and doesn't weigh too much. The aftermarket ones invalidate the warranty I think?

Brompton are getting ready to make an announcement for an e-bike for next year. Details already leaked from a recent bike show - that is also how we know about the new components on the 2017 model. The new m-bar in particular caught my eye, it hard to tell if they have extended the fork or if the S and M forks are now the same.

Fucking love my Brompton... @Elguapo dropped it off for me when I arrived in London yesterday (thanks @coppiThat!)... Rode it to Clapham Junction thinking I was going to East Grinstead, had to dash out at Lingfield cuz I was going to the wrong place and ride along the lanes to Edenbridge... Best transport mistake ever...
LOVE IT!!!

@coppiThat I remember looking at you ti seatpost last time I saw you on the Brompton. I tried your (oh so much lighter) Brompton and when adjusting it it felt that the diameter seemed a tiny tiny bit smaller than original post (could be just an impression though).
Now reading @edscoble post on warranty, it occurs to me that a badly machined aftermarket seatpost (Not specifically your one, I can't tell if it was just a impression or if the seat clamp was just set looser than on mine) could fit badly in frame, and with the great leverage they have due to their length showing, especially with tall riders, this could cause stress to the frame. Maybe check that when loaded it doesn't generate some kind of pivotal force in the seat tube... -

The love is strong on the Brompton thread

Good point. I did find that the post slipped down but a quarter turn on the nut has ensured that the quick release works as before. The insertion point for my height puts the bottom of the post two inches below the top tube. There doesn't appear to be any queer flexing of the post when riding.
I love how much lighter it makes it feel. Picking it up with ease is so underrated. -

My Brompton made it back to Queensland in one piece, went out for my maiden Aussie ride yesterday... Fantastic...
Bit busy being sick and rehearsing for some weekend gigs atm so probably won't get a chance to get some proper riding in Brisbane til next week... Roll on!

I got my partner a new Brompton about two months ago.
One thing that has annoyed me is the inconsistency of the fasteners used. The front brake mount uses a stainless nyloc nut, but the mudguards use galv plain nuts. After a week they were rusty and loose. The stem bolts had factory threadlock but the rear brake mount had none. Neither did the factory-installed derailleur, which fell off.
I have been round the bike and replaced all fasteners with stainless ones, nyloc where possible and threadlocked where appropriate. It's nothing major and the dealer is also partly responsible, but it could save new owners a fair bit of bother if the appropriate fasteners were specced at the factory.

How did he managed to get them rusty within a week??
-

Rain - the galv coating isn't thick. Undo any moisture-prone galv nut and you'll see rust on the mating surface (and on this example, the spanner flats).
@cornelius_blackfoot - did Putney Cycles give you a pump with your Brompton?
