What spec are you looking at? I've never driven a C6 but spent quite a bit of time in various C5's. As you said, the first gen is a totally silly car in the best possible way. Nothing that big should be that quick and it was a hoot.
I ended up selling one to a customer who used to run a Mondeo daily and had a TVR as his weekend car. The RS6 was bought to do the job of two cars. After using it daily to do decent mileage, he soon realised that 500-600quid a month on fuel was unsustainable and he went back to owning 2 cars again and saved money.
My uncle then went on to buy the same car and when the DRC suspension went, he put it on a set of KW coilovers to circumvent the huge cost of replacing the DRC parts needed.

Well, after a comprehensive and frustrating failure to do so yesterday, I finally got to test drive a couple of C6 RS6 Avants today. What a gloriously silly car. I definitely want one. Probably the one I drove this afternoon. Going to sleep on it tonight and make a decision tomorrow.
