Had the Grosvenor estate bequeathed to the new Duke of Westminster been liable for 40% inheritance tax, the amount owed to the Treasury would have been not far off the government’s entire death duty take for the last financial year.

Great couple of days for the Harlow Town Marketing Board.

The guy who called a Crown Court judge a cunt (and then had the compliment returned) and the guy who got kicked off the plane for threatening to stab the pilot and kill all of the other passengers because he couldn't handle his wine are both from that most picturesque of Essex market towns.

My cab driver this morning hails from Essex, he had strong views on the totally unused cycle superhighways and firmly believed in Brexiting in order to resolve the immo issue that is crippling the country.

Reading that actually made me feel less outraged by the whole thing. Lots of the estate is made up of the assets of the companies, employs 1,000 odd people directly, pays >10% tax, etc.
