  • Hay all above, really glad that I got a few responses shows this is still up and running. Lawrence if you do organise any ride/drinks Ill deff be up for that but my time is limited so I need as much notice as possible! And yea church road was probably me, trying out new routes to Worthing where I aint riding into full scale shitty wind! Im used to the red light dash of london so the long beautiful seafront roads are a bit brutal! And WroSS I still got awhile before I can beat 38min Brighton to Worthing, out of interest wheres your start and finish point? I work on Black Lion Street and live closish to Worthing station, my best time with wind has been 41min according to Strava but I don't know I trust it yet, been using Strava a few weeks but having loads of problems with it at the mo....

  • yea that would have been me! trying to avoid the wind, unsuccessfully....

  • Fuck me more activity this week than in the last year !!

  • Starting point is where the Hove Lawns start, just by statue of the lady angel, finish point is the Worthing Pier

  • right gonna have to do some time trials!

  • pretty stoked with my first proper timed run, admittingly there was only a slightly annoying breeze...

  • So, totally ignoring the early notice thing;

This Wednesday (Tomorrow!) I will be at the pier at 7.15 for a 7.30 departure up to the Dyke.

Social pace, bring a beer, catch the sunset and spin home. Bring lights, and anything else you might need!

If you can't make this I am going to try and make Wednesdays a regular ride, and then if people get more interested I would be up for some longer weekend rides.

I will try and duplicate anything I put on Facebook on here as well and hopefully we can get the ball rolling for some more exciting things!

  • I'll be there Lawrence!

  • In response to the fixed scene in Brighton. Those that I know who used to ride fixed about 5/6 years ago fell in love with riding bikes in general and found other cycling disciplines that excited them. Dice mentioned that some of us got into polo, and took in pretty far in a few cases. After we had difficulty with numbers some got into bikepacking and long distance unsupported riding (JOGLE). Some of us started riding road and eventually racing, one guy is now a Cat2 rider for a local team and regularly races in Belgium.

Long story short we met a bunch of really cool people who loved bikes, talked about them and rode them. Some still ride fixed (Cat2 did his ITT fixed in the Tour of Sussex). Riding fixed in Brighton is fine, no one who has been riding long enough ever really worries about the hills, you just pick the right gearing for the terrain. I moved on from fixed to polo, to road and cx riding/racing, and riding my son to nursery in the week. Would love to have a track bike still, I just don't have the room/time anymore

  • Sweet! I will see you there!

  • I just bought a new track bike on Sunday...something something...no space...buried under bikes...something something

  • I had a spin around the Preston Park track on Sunday. It made me really want to get a track bike.
    One day!

  • Last night three of us made the lengthy and arduous trip to Devil's Dyke on our fixed-gear bicycles.

Hopefully we can get another ride organised and generate some more interest!

How about meeting on Sunday evening on the church steps opp. Fitzherberts? (STOOP LYFE)

  • Sorry for not appearing on Sunday, I had pre laid plans.

Another pedal on Wednesday evening? Meet at the same time and place and roll out to somewhere different?

  • Work has got me down this week and I won't be organizing any weekday evening rides.

Next week I will be at Eurobike until Friday.

So, this Saturday - 27/08/16 - A little coastal pedal? Bring a beer, bifta or whatever else for the end of the ride?

Next Friday - 02/09/16 - End of the week ride in the evening? Maybe just a pedal around town? Hit some hills? Not sure yet, but up for some ideas!

  • Hi everyone, noticed this thread is very empty but picked up steam recently.

I have been riding fixed for years, mostly in London. Started working in Brighton 5 months ago. Looking for a similar social vibe to the LFGSS crew up in town.

Up for a ride on Friday, nothing heavy though. Social run 15-20 miles with a get together feel.

  • I am game for riding whenever! I am around on Friday even if no-one else is @Tourer145

  • annnd, looks like I'm going off road tomorrow evening instead of fixed... So sorry dudes! I'll be around in future for sure.

  • Fixed steel bianchi on the roundabout parked up top of Littlehampton by morrisons dude taking pictures of traffic
    ginger beard
    nice bike

  • So I saw a guy on what looked like a bianchi with a aerospoke front wheel the other day near hove lagoon, only saying this cause I still aint seen another fixie on my travels yet. Also what do people think of aerospoke wheels, or more so fake aerospoke wheels, cause Im thinking of getting one, purely for the fact I think they are cool??

  • Cinelli mash works with extra-wide bars parked at the Brighton Boulder... Sick ride dude!

  • @Tetin - You still in Brighton dude? I ain't seen a blue Dolan for a long time...

I bet that Mash belongs to @Lewis_from_Lewes.

  • ha yep thats me ^

  • @diceface yay i'm still around! Unfortunatelly my dolan was stolen back in Barcelona over a year ago while working... 😢😢

  • Aww dude, that sucks! What are you riding now?
