Hmm, I haven't noticed it happening recently but it has happened to me before (and Ride London definitely killed Strava last year too). In my experience, if it doesn't sync within 10mins then it never will and has to be uploaded manually, as it doesn't seem to work well with 'historical' activities. It usually works ok for the next ride once that's done though..
