  • Could really do with an electrician in the Brixton /Herne hill area...

  • There is an all areas section at the top. I am in Camberwell and Clive has been here a number of times... can't see why he won't go to Brixton.

  • Anyone know what a fair day rate for handyman/carpenter to fit a new front door is?

Plus if anyone has a good one in streatham.

  • Need a plumber for a new boiler in the Chalk Farm area all recommendations appreciated. Ta

  • Electrician needed to fit a Nest thermostat, E3, anyone?

  • If you can get hold of Tom in the North part of my list, he is really good and I am sure he is within walking ish distance to Chalk Farm. Keep calling and keep calling. He is shit with picking up his phone but once jobs confirmed he is quick.

  • Clive is your man. He does all over London.

  • Cheers buddy.

  • Apparently doesn't do Nest installations... le sigh...

  • Handyman in North London to fit curtain rails, smoke alarm and tv bracket? Hammer drill required!

  • But does the drill come with a handyman? :-P

  • Isn't that more of a job for a gas engineer? Do they not then need to run tests etc afterwards?

  • ha thanks @sacredhart but with my level of expertise, I fear I'd hammer drill through my eyeball.

  • @sacredhart @ExTra well one electrician told me it was a job for a gas guy... but... i'm not sure how/why as it doesn't actually touch the gas and a pal of mine fitted his own, without messing with gas. My boiler is a bit less simple so not going to try the self fit... getting it sorted next week but I find the conflicting information very frustrating.

  • I think @sacredhart reply to me is in relation to the handyman and drill...

I would have thought it needs a gas man simply because it's to do with controlling the heating in your house. If you are struggling to find someone, give Clive another call and ask him if he has contact for you? He is a top man! He offered to fix things for me and taught me how to fix a couple of urgent / hairy situation over the phone... and he is not a friend (as such)...

  • It doesn't require a gas registered engineer.

  • Clive didn't mention gas safe, he just said he hasn't done them before... so wasn't interested... another guy said it needed a gas safe... oh well... its going to get done...

  • Anyone know a good next-day house cleaning service? Don't mind using an agency

  • Dredged this thread and called Clive. Gent but unavailable having relocated to Kent. Any other suggestions for an electrician?

  • Not sure what areas you're looking at exactly. This guy does North/East (mainly Hackney/ Haringey/Islington and surrounding areas) and seemed decent when I used him for some minor stuff. (Also uses a bike rather than a van.)

  • @aggi Thanks very much. I'm in Hackney so I'll look into it
