  • might be a stoopid question, but if you were going to run a 29er frame with drops, how would you approach sizing? Just go as close to your road bike effective top tube length as you can?

Building a more rugged disc tourer/rando/trail bike and thinking of departing from the road/cx options to more offroad-orientated but without flat bars.

Was looking at an Ogre but the weenie in me started crying and telling me to just get a caadx and suck it, then the buyer in me told me to just go custom, then the calvinist scot in me said 'just go planet x london road and stop being such a materialistic princess.'

    Now I have no idea.

  • I'd be looking to replicate stack/reach of a similarly (un)aggressive road frame that fits.

  • just go planet x london road and stop being such a materialistic princess.

Just did this. The frame's hanging in the workshop looking at me, whispering "you cheap bastard, you'll never be on radavist. I'm so plain and simple you'll be whipped to within an inch of your life for even touching me"

Wait this is the functional thread.

    Do it.

  • or/plus look at front-center distance (aiming for the same as road bike + the tyre width difference). So even if the headangle isnt the same the weight on the front should be close.

  • Alpkit's sonder bikes are 949 for a fully custom titanium frame. Maybe even including the carbon fork...

  • why not get something that'll fit 650b mtb tyres?
