This is what I read about ferries before :
https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13140086/
Because there are multiple ferry ports, and because the order of riders arriving at those ferry ports only influences the finish order if the riders finish together, the ferries could be a massive influence.
A disruption, or miss-timed arrival could see one rider sitting in a ferry port and being overtaken because their rival picked a faster, more regular, or better timed ferry.
Tense times coming :-)

I thought that they had decided that documented proof of the arrival time at the ferry terminal would decide the order of arrival?
Looks like Skinny has a fight on his hands...

If they did then it wasn't obvious to me in the version of the rules that I read.
Also how would that work with multiple ferry ports? If everything depended on receipts then riders would all head to the closest ferry port but kristof went past Eceabat and on to Kilitbahir which has a shorter ferry journey (although I realise he was hardly under pressure...).

My understanding was you can beat someone by getting on a different ferry that arrives earlier - receipt times / trackers only come in to play if you both end up on the same ferry..

Skinny stopped. Geoff now 2kms ahead.

I tweeted the race to ask about ferries.
Go skinny hope he has something left after his huge drive up the field.
-
• #3610
It only comes into play when the 2 riders are on the same ferry. Otherwise there is no issue, it's just first to the finish.

As middleofnowhere says. If both riders end up on the same ferry, they need to establish who arrived at the port first. It'll be done either on the tracker, or via some sort of documentary evidence, for example an ATM receipt.

Looks like Neil Phillips has just stopped at the side of the road.
-
• #3613
Dead battery, or maybe tactical tracker switch off
-
• #3614
It says his tracker has switched off, if you look on trackleaders. Not sure why at this point
-
• #3615
Probably resting up and doesn't want those behind to know.
-
• #3616
He has popped up again down the coast towards the ferry
-
• #3617
Neil's now 7km from the ferry so a safe 2nd place - Carlos is abotu 80km behind.
-
• #3618
I was talking crap again then, probably just lost reception
-
• #3619
Neil has absolutely hammered it along that final stretch to the ferry at 40 kph all the way. Mad respect.
-
• #3620
On the 14:30 (bst) ferry! Should land about 14:55 (bst).
-
• #3621
Showing as finished. Immense effort.
-
• #3622
He absolutely stormed that last leg. Cracking ride.
-
• #3623
8th-13th within 66km

• #3625
yep. incredible ride. chap to the fuckin eau indeed
@skinny has had about 4 hours rest/sleep recently, Geoff looks like he's been more or less constantly riding for the last 24 hours though.
