  • The bolt is very tight, and I've tried leverage (breakers bar), standing on it, standing on it under a door frame and pressing down, but all with no joy.

Which model? Remember, Super Record ones with the Ti axle use a left hand thread.

  • Its Chorus. But, still no joy. Any tips or tricks?

  • Any tips or tricks?

    Bigger wrench :-)

  • I'm going to try a much a bigger wrench, as I've access to a motor vehicle and full engineering workshop. But, its more being able to get the leverage without ripping the entire crank section out of the frame.

Would an impact wrench be too brutal?

  • I've access to a motor vehicle and full engineering workshop.

If you want to isolate the NDS crank as a holding point, it would not be rocket science to build a jig to engage the spindle bore and the pedal eye.

  • Wait till you read about the Japanese Knotweed.

  • Correct. Logs wouldn't be a problem. The branches and needles would be a fucker for me to deal with.

Can you dispose of the mulched matter (biomass?) at a council facility for free, or is disposal chargeable?

  • I would have no way of mulching it or getting said mulch to any facility, so I have not looked into this.

  • Could really easy have been scammers.

  • Could really easy have been scanners.

  • If you could save the money in a few months but want to do it as cheaply as possible is it worth considering applying for a 0% on new purchases credit card just for this? Or if the person carrying out the work wants cash applying for a Virgin Money Transfer Card which has a 1.69% fee then 32 months at 0% as long as you make the minimum payment? So the loan would cost just over £27 if paid off within that time period.

  • My parents garden was full of that when they bought their house, it was a fucking nightmare.

  • Any idea what this cable is in my new flat?

Looks like virgin cable, but virgin say they don't do my flat. Might be arial but neighbours don't have them and can't test it without getting an adaptor.

There's also another socket in the bedroom - old bnc home network perhaps?

  • TV co-axial cable for Freeview/cable/satellite.

  • You're certain of that? Was kind of hoping it might be something more exciting :(

  • I would have no way of mulching it or getting said mulch to any facility, so I have not looked into this.

Bet you could sell that afterward for what you paid for it.

Plus a ladder and chainsaw, then get a load of those paper bags off the council which they pick up garden waste in?

  • Yeah definitely looks like TV

  • Definitely coaxial, with a screw-on end for TV.

  • Any recommendations for the best way to learn a new language? Specifically German. By best, I mean best for cheap/free. Are there any good apps?

  • What is this infographic trying to tell me?

  • The best way is to go and live there, which is cheaper than living in London.

The second best way is to have some reason to have to learn it, like being able to communicate with a partner, children, friends, or business contacts.

I find that if you make it a hobby, you'll never properly do it.

With the apps you'll probably get quite good at passing each level, but if you don't actually use it you'll never internalise it.

  • Don't use an 11s road cassette; do use an 11s MTB cassette.

  • 11sod cassette spacer for road vs mtb freehubs?

  • Plug it into something and it might transport you to another realm. A bit like Jumanji or Narnia, probably.

  • I had one of those in a flat that was cable service. Somewhat weird. hooked up to an old cable box you got a variety of freeview channels. Hooked up to a dodgy cable box you got every channel (although dodgy box required a software update via PC every so often).

I also had one in another flat that was hooked up to a communal satellite dish. Again, you got Freeview TV by using a cheap sky box from ebay.
