They are a massive pain in the backside. I took out a load of them in my previous place. People plant them cos "they want a screen" and irresponsible nurseries sell them rather than the many alternative, more appropriate species.
10 years later there is a big problem.
I set fire to the resulting debris - not really recommended. Was hugely unpopular with everyone within a mile radius and eventualy had to concede defeat, put fire out and take reaminder away in a truck.
I just read a Wikipedia article on leylandii. Apparently huge thing in UK, as well as related disputes... You learn something new everyday
