  • Because these are the bike equivalents of Trailer Queens. Not built for use. Built to amuse their egos.

  • Not built for use. Built to amuse their ergos.

    ftfy

  • Thanks, good to know! Still a bit weird... since one would assume that a trailer Queen's primary purpose is to look pretty. Imo leaving the QR open defies that purpose since it looks odd.

  • @mdcc_tester

What is the rubberised superglue that can be used to repair cut tyres?

I am guessing that Hutchinson use it or similar for their "rep'air" tubeless tyre kit.

  • What is the rubberised superglue that can be used to repair cut tyres?

The only repair technique I've heard of uses normal ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive. Medical/veterinary wound closing octyl cyanoacrylate (e.g. Dermabond) is more flexible when cured and may therefore be more suitable for tyre repair.

  • Any recommended chainring bolts to fit non-shimano rings to Ultegra 6800 cranks?

  • I need £1500 to get some trees removed. What would be more sensible, take the money from my credit card or get a personal loan from my bank?

  • Omg, how many trees are there?

  • The main problem is that they're leylandii so need to be disposed of differently. They can't be mulched and composted with other green waste so most of that cost is disposal.

I could save the money in a few months probably but I'd like them gone before the end of the summer.

If I use my CC that might be easier to repay sooner. Rather than dragging a small loan out over 12 months

  • Most banks have a starting point of £6k or so for personal loans - my minimum for Natwest has always been £7500. Anthing less an they say CC or overdraft. Which is a bit daft. Overdrafts are always cheaper than CC rates.

  • Only have a £250 overdraft and Ulsterbank personal loans start at £1k. Shit rate but it's only £100 or so for the year.

  • Correction £188.62 for the year

  • Go for the one that offers the lowest interest rate.

But the most sensible option would be to save for a few months and pay it all with no loan, if there is no immediate requirement for them to be removed?

  • Take the loan then. You'll get better rates than you will with a credit card.

  • Buy a chainsaw. I did and it was a massive rush as I didn't, and still don't, know what I was doing. I took down a dead Pseudoacacia in my garden and six big Leylandii in my neighbour's. I had watched one episode of Ax Men and it looked simple enough. Cheaper than a loan and what could possibly go wrong?

  • I have a friend who can come over from NI and do it for free but I have no way of getting rid of a lorry load of leylandii.

  • I just read a Wikipedia article on leylandii. Apparently huge thing in UK, as well as related disputes... You learn something new everyday

  • They are a massive pain in the backside. I took out a load of them in my previous place. People plant them cos "they want a screen" and irresponsible nurseries sell them rather than the many alternative, more appropriate species.

10 years later there is a big problem.

I set fire to the resulting debris - not really recommended. Was hugely unpopular with everyone within a mile radius and eventualy had to concede defeat, put fire out and take reaminder away in a truck.

  • Often see house garden logs on offer on freecycle or Gumtree.
Do you have an accessible bit of your front garden you leave them in?

  • They are sh*t to burn - think you would struggle to give the logs away. 70% of the waste will be the branches which are even worse.

  • Correct. Logs wouldn't be a problem. The branches and needles would be a fucker for me to deal with.

  • Just been on holiday and both travelling there and back (via gatwick) an individual approached me and asked if they could use my phone to phone a mate they're trying to meet. The first bloke was holding a dead iPhone, I offered him a charger (as we were sat opposite a charge point) and he refused... And the second person, an american woman seemed very offended that I didn't offer her my phone. Am I being a dick? What's the proper etiquette in these situations?

  • Screw them, I don't let anyone touch my things

  • Those planet x kids bikes, the race ones, has anyone built one up (on here)?

  • Anybody have any ideas to remove a stuck Campagnolo Ultra Torque crank bolt? The bolt is very tight, and I've tried leverage (breakers bar), standing on it, standing on it under a door frame and pressing down, but all with no joy.
