• I need a new frame for my hand build OpenPro/Sapin/Token wheels and full carbon peripherals. I ride everyday 30 miles to work and longer 50-60 miles on weekends with every weather condition. At work the bike is parked in a secure garage and at home in the corner of my living room next to my sofa!!
Shall I go for the Dolan FXE alu frame or raise the standards to Dolan Seta carbon frame. My concerns are two, reliability and comfort.
Reliability: Will the Seta carbon frame cope with the everyday race to work and the bad weather elements or the FXE will be more durable?
Comfort: Will the Seta be more comfortable that the FXE in absorbing road buzz?

  • I've never ridden a seta but the pre cursa that the FXE is based on is fairly rigid in terms of feeling the road. In theory the carbon seta should absorb some more of this whilst being more than stiff enough.
Alu is generally more durable but carbon can last for years without exploding if its looked after. Neither will rust so thats a start.
I think for commuting you won't get the price difference worth in advantages but if you want the seta for bling then go for it.
