Don't worry, they'll sell you an adaptor dongle for £19.99

Yeah, I've done that. It works just fine.
Another option, which I'm using now that the MBPs don't have disc drives, is a Nifty Minidrive with a 200Gb SD card. That's been working really well.

Found this image in the comments – On the left is the logic board from the new Macbook, on the right is a Raspberry Pi.
Makes you wonder how small the next Mini will be...

Thats the reason I am on a perpetual buy and return spree .. on 6th macbook now ;)

Really? buy - use for (1 month - 1 day) - return - repeat?

Does depend how badly damaged it is though. I poured a pint of beer in mine, which it didn't like.
I took it to somewhere to get it fixed and they said I was better off taking it to pieces and cleaning it myself because they'd charge me a minimum of £300, and couldn't guarantee they'd fix it.
So I did that and its fine now apart from the trackpad.

I thought as much - really should get contents insurance at some point.

300 quid aint bad compared to the 1300 that I was quoted!
Where did you get that quote from? Tempted to give it a shot or just stick it on the bay for a couple hundred quid or something.

It's bloody embarrassing. If only someone would make a decent box to put PC bits in I'd prob consider switching... (I know there are kinda a couple).

Spent about 6 hours yesterday wiping Mrs Hammer's faulty old macbook pro, reinstalling OSX then updating to latest version (twice), only to eventually discover that the 'fault' was her trackpad, hidden somewhere in the room and connected by bluetooth being held clicked down.
It now works perfectly but the software I wanted to use it for doesn't run on El Capitan.
Fucking macs. -

Upgraded my ageing MacBook to Mavericks and know my wd passport external hard drive isn't recognised. Seems this is a wider issue.

It was these guys: http://www.irepairmacs.co.uk
But that was just their ballpark minimum for stripping it down and cleaning it. It didn't include replacing anything that was broken.

Any suggestions on what a reasonable price for a 3rd gen iPad 16gb is? My mum wants to sell hers but has no idea of how much it's worth. Cheers.

I usually go onto ebay search for the same item, then see a few recent sold listings to get an average. Obviously if she is selling to a friend or whatnot she might wanna knock a few quids off the average, whatever that is.

Cheers. I tried that and got a fair range between £100-£150. I wasn't sure whether that was reasonable or I was missing something (my apple knowledge is pretty limited).

So something called CalendarAgent in activity monitor is eating all my hdd space. I reboot and have 25gb+ free, then suddenly calendaragent starts eating away at it, and 5 mins later my hdd is full.
Anyone had this one? Googled it a lot but no luck

Do you sync the Calendar app with Google?
Problem here is CPU usage, but could be related.

Seen that one I think, and I do synch with google. Might be stuck in a download loop? For some reason it's working fine again though, so won't bother with it now

Just testing the water out there, I am seriously thinking about selling my MBA 11inch 2015 model... as I will be getting a new Mac for free in a couple of months and I do have my 15inch that I have been neglecting... anyone interested?

I am, depending on the ££££s and the specs.
Oh fuck, you're right, thats why they are not releasing before the phone...
