Just over a week to go until the Men's Road Race. Here's a start list:

Columbia have a strong team this year. Very much looking forward to it.

Road race on Saturday...Dutch look like they're going to have a strong team although Valverde seems hard to bet against

Yeah it's a strong team, but none capable of winning on a course like Rio - Poels a maybe after his LBL win...but might be too fucked from the Tour, and I doubt whether Dumoulin will be able to do much in the RR with his broken wrist.

I'm hoping Valverde worked too hard in the tour...

Going on holiday on Monday which means I'm missing most of the good bits so not really got into it this year.

Mollema won San Sebastian 1 week after the Tour, he looks to be in good shape... Dumoulin, I expect he will save himself a bit for the TT. Kruijswijk never really did well in one day races with shorter climbs. So either Mollema or Poels to at least be in contention for the win, yeah!

Valverde and Rodriguez are on the same team, hope they prevent each other from winning, like always ;)

It's my understanding that Mavic will be used for the games though. Those shoes just don't look comfortable though!!

The title is generic enough for the whole event... so it can stay in Misc. I'm sure there will be talk of other things... opening ceremony and such.

Except for the other 674 sports in the games which don't feature bicycles or rides...

London was smart.

I can't remember the closing ceremony from London.
Why was it so bad?

It was a bit all over place but spirited and probably reflected the games well in that sense; Paras closing was amazing tho, no matter what you think of Codplay

I used to be on nodding terms with one of the athletes from one of the "other" sports, so I am interested. Will be watching the computer on Saturday.

My mum and brother were there, apparently loads of people left as soon as Paul McCartney came on stage.
