  • Is there anyone that City haven't signed? Talk about Cheque book managers. It's all getting a bit sad really

  • New Sunderland manager David Moyes is set to battle his old club Everton for striker Christian Benteke, 25, with Liverpool setting his asking price at £30m.
Please let him him go to the former. Please, please

  • They didn't sign benteke.

    They also didn't sign lallana.

  • It's all the Champions League money. Have Liverpool spent theirs yet?

    Oh.

  • Isn't there this Fair play concept or did that just disappear?

  • Just seen that we've sold Alex Pritchard to Norwich.
Sadface.jpg was hoping he'd be another of the academy prospects to get a proper run for the first team, even though he'd been told by The Sheriff he was surplus to requirements alongside Bentaleb and Fazio, I was still hoping he'd edge his way back into contention.
Rumour was he was heading to Brighton and old boy Chris Hughton, but alas the spurs connection wasn't strong enough...

Currently wondering who else we're going to be signing and whether Chadli gets shown the door as well, or if the competition from almost signed N'koudou, means he ups his game...

  • It was found to have been designed and implemented by people who are fraudsters and embezzlers. There is still a watered down version, but it's pointless.

A bit like the Liverpool team really.

  • I see. Thanks. Didn't notice it. I apparently didn't pick up on yarklad's rather obvious username.

@yarklad If he's even close to as good as Hughesy I'll take him.

Did you know Richard Herring is a York City fan? I don't think he goes to games or even knows what league they're in but he mentions it from time to time.

  • Caught up on the Milan game from last night.

Konte came on and bossed it. What a signing. Passing, defending, tackling he did it all.
@Markyboy has he used that long range passing much at Leicester?

  • Konte came on and bossed it.

I can imagine the lovechild of Conte and Kante being pretty good.

    oh dear

Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, another former Germany captain, told German publication Bild: "One or two players are going to think long and hard in future about whether they want to go to such a club."

  • Old Bully Boy Joe is starting early this year I see. I can't wait for the LOL's to come

Guardian predicting a successful season for Liverpool, 6th position.

  • Can't see how that will happen with City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester all likely to finish above us. I'd say we will finish 8th again

Maybe a good run in the FA Cup?

    That always ends well.

  • Report on WHU new stadium from a City supporting mate who lives near Brisbane Rd and went to see WHU last night: -

I believe there are large numbers of seats at the back of the ends which WON'T ever be used, presumably because they will be so far from the action.

BUT - I would guess that somewhere around 50,000 seats will give you a PERFECTLY good view, which is, y'know, 15,000 more seats than they had at Upton Park, huge swathes of that stadium gave a view that was completely unacceptable (like the entire away end - I sat in the home end for our games in the final few seasons cos I actually wanted to see the game)

The sides seem a bit imbalanced - one side is one single sweep (can't think of a better description) of seats, which seems to be bigger than the other side, which has a single row of boxes in between a clearly defined top and bottom tier. I sat roughly level with the touchline, in the bigger stand, roughly 2/3 of the way up, and while I did feel like I was straining my eyes to see the far side, I didn't find it problematic.

And, compare to other 'new' stadiums - the Etihad is great, IMHO - there are very few bad views, unless you're at pitch level, which is the same anywhere - but the Emirates has given up so much to the corporate middle tier that the lower tier seats allow you to see almost nothing, even at the back of that area, while the rear of the upper tier make you feel like you're watching on a TV at the other end of a pub. Wembley has a similar feel, if not as bad as Emirates. the Olympic Stadium just has slightly different issues, and frankly, the Hammers fans don't seem to care too much.

If you wanted to build your own stadium, it would cost you £500m, minimum, and MILES more if it was on the plot that the OS is in now - so accepting a few imperfections for the massive improvement in profile that this stadium will get for them now, and for frankly close to freemans, not even worth debating.

  • I wonder how Everton are progressing with their marquee signing of Ashley Williams. A real statement of intent if they pull that one off.

  • I've watched rugby there a few times. It's OK. View is fine but you do feel a bit removed from the action. Surrounding area is a bit crap, distinct shortage of pubs (although I guess better than Reading or similar out of town grounds where there is nothing).
