  • Hi tandem people, I posted my query with no luck in "any questions answered".
I'm under the impression that, although the bb is fitted to a tandem eccentric shell, it's not tandem specific... But maybe I'm wrong.

"There's a possibly stuck BB (I didn't abuse it so far before understanding what it was) in the eccentric part of a current project tandem...
I managed to remove (wasn't easy, must have been fitted dry many years ago) the 2 lockrings (no reverse thread on non drive side) but I can not tell how it's inserted. It seems like there's no thread inside, like if it was a push fit (maybe like some Mavic BBs).
What is it and how do I take it out please?
    Thanks!"

  • The BB won't be tandem specific, but from those photos I can't tell how it works. But I do think you have a better chance of removing it if you put the EBB back in so you have it anchored.

Are there two holes on the outside faces for a pin spanner?

  • Use a bench vise to hold the cup and a pair of Allen keys to get some torque on the insert? The usual suggestions RE penetrative oils etc will help.
    Alternatively, find a new insert!
