• The Volvo B230 engines blow them out routinely when running a lot of boost, one of the standard tasks when building a high output engine is to deal with the freeze-lugs in some way - either pulling the factory ones out and fitting fresh, or some sort of retaining bar fitted to help them resist the pressure from the cooling system that pushes them out.
