@Howard and @Ramsaye have far more experience of CX tyres than me, although I think @IR has used Conti Mountain King and Schwalbe Smart Sam around there with no issues.
Pretty much anything works around Epping in the Summer, so I'd get something cheap & tough, unless you wanted them to double up as actual race tyres.

It depends on conditions and whether you want to run them with tubes of tubeless. With tubes for all round off road but not too muddy, hard to beat the Michelin mud2. Otherwise, anything by Scwalbe with a folding bead.
