What you must know is the fork weight is around 2kg...
As I red on Surly's website the steel used on their bikes is 4130 Chromoly, double butted for the frame and not for the fork...
I think it's pretty heavy and it can handle the disc tab plus the eyelets. (I'll take a picture on the other side tomorrow)
You also must know that I won't ride this bike like a pro racer, it's a pub bike. So I'll ride it as slow as my blood alcool will allow.
But I keep in mind what you said, and I'll tell you if it fails (me or my friends if I brake my bones).
Edit : my bad, the Steamroller fork is 1kg. Not 2.
