Investing in one of these for work asap.
Does this mean Leo is back from his holidayz? -
• #109304
Yep, took a week and a half to get mine built.

Flat bars for the Dolan which has transformed to the live-outdoors-in-bike-hanger-pub-bike. This frame has been so versatile over the 7 or so years I've owned it.
Obviously needs zip ties. And a good clean.

My project the next week is to make my bloody mind up on something I've been going back and forth on for months. At my in-laws in Japan right now I have this bike:
.. but for a few reasons I find myself wanting to replace it with something else. I have the opportunity to do so this week as the mother in-law is in town and she can take a frame back with her. I've a few frames that can replace it and I'm just thinking out loud here because I can't decide which one to go with.
Candidate number 1 is a modern Gios Compact, Deda oversized and heat-treated tubing. Stiff and light, goes up hills well - imperative over there. Front derailleur tab is just low enough to be able to run a 50x34 compact, but only just. I'd have probably fully decided on taking this over there already if it wasn't for there being a huge number of cheap Taiwanese Gios frames flooding the country, it won't be particularly unique. The other downside is I haven't got the original fork, Orlowski is on the case there but it won't be here in time so it'll mean having it chopped to size over there.
Candidate number 2 is a NOS Moser Pro Evolution - Deda again but not heat treated and only the top tube oversized, would guess it won't be quite as good up in the hills as the Gios but maybe nicer over distance. Not a high end Moser but I do like the colours and think they'll look nice in the countryside, although they do clash ever so slightly with something else I plan to take over there. If I hadn't picked up the Gios then I'd probably have already decided to take this.
Candidate number 3 is a Contini Aero. Apparently Columbus Neuron with a Genius fork. The tubing has been reshaped into something that looks like Max but more pointed. The lugs at the front end look like Max but reshaped to fit the shape of the tubes, and the down-tube and seat-tube are also shaped like Max but the chainstays aren't - so that BB shell is a bit of a mystery to me too, I guess it could all be custom. This frame would be the more unique one to take. However I've no idea yet how it rides and it's also a repaint and not the best one at that - ideally it needs redoing again. A bit too much faffing about really compared to options 1 & 2, but a repaint does mean it could be made radical.
All of those would be built up with 10 speed silver Campagnolo parts. I'm leaning towards the Gios as I know how it rides and it's a great frame, but it's not particularly unique or flashy. The Moser will be more unique and I reckon it'll ride well and look nice built up. The Contini is a bit of an outlier really. I may end up just flipping a coin between the Gios and the Moser.
Another fly in the ointment is that this one could also work:
Oversized Columbus Neuron, carbon fork - the lightest of the lot and plenty stiff enough. Would run it with 10 speed Record carbon. Doesnt quite match the aesthetic though I was originally planning to go with. And it's only a Peugeot :/

But...it would be heavy!
I guess you should do the same with bottle cages too.
Direct from Cannondale it had one black bottle cage and one silver one.

Shit! Just seen this! This was my old frame, sold it about 5 years ago. Anyone got any pictures of it built up?
Might be best to ask @RankinJ

A late customer of mine had a 93 wagon running over 400bhp. Was an absolute beast. I've always been a fan of the 900's myself.

I, too, joined the rack brotherhood:
Pelago Commuter (large), which I also use for my tourer. Pretty versatile thing, if you have a brake hole in your fork.
