  • Lol would rep!

  • Ultegra vs 105 11 speed cassette

Any difference in shifting? Which lasts longer?

  • 105 because it's cheaper.

Main difference is the cog carrier, Ultegra have more cog carrier which reduced bite mark on Alu freehubs.

  • Also, in addition to Scoble's advice - take your old ultegra spacers and lockring (provided it's the same small cog) and use them in the 105 cassette.

All of a sudden you have a 105 cassette that is very close to ultegra weight.

The other difference is the finish, 105 looks shiny and ultegs has a shot finish.

  • I generally use the Bob Jackson list as a guide, quotes from a few other local builders have been around the same price.

  • I have had the same issues with my work computer, but resolved it by switching from a VGA to a DVI one. Do you have that option?

  • Are the monitors and laptop plugged into the same extension lead?

VGA is an analogue signal. The cables are prone to interference if they run parallel to power cables or cross them at angles other than 90 degrees.

  • I bought a Cinelli Pinocchio stem because it was £10 in the planet x sale, I've just tried to install it and seem to have stripped the hex bolt on the top cover. I managed to get the stem off, took it apart and am slightly confused how it's supposed to work, the whole top bit seems to move independently to the bolt, so twisting the top red cap doesn't tighten the stem, yet I can't seem to get it off to get to the top of the bolt. Am I supposed to be able to unscrew the red top cap from the black bit that goes into the top of the stem?

This appears to have happened to others:

Anyone have any experience with these?

  • Fucking jeans.

For the last 3 years i've been wearing ASOS jeans and they been great, at lasting around 4-6 months a pair for sub £30. the last two pairs however have been different, slightly different fit and material (too long, even in the smallest, 30" leg) and have barely lasted 2 months (this isn't even cycling in them very often)

Where can I get DECENT pair of black, skinny jeans (like.. actual skinny not Levi 511 which are slim at best) that do 30" leg (32" and then altered tends not to work for me either, too baggy at the ankles) for up to £100?!

  • Far too long, even the 32 they have to take a lot of material off

  • too baggy still, im too short for jeans that baggy

  • Cheap Monday stock 30 inch inseam as a standalone size rather than a cut-down 32,34 or whatever. About £50 and certainly fit the 'skinny' requirement.

Haven't tested them as a cycling option personally but some of the styles come in stretch-denim (same/similar fabric composition as much of the Levis Commuter range) which must offer some benefit for spending time in the saddle.

  • Will head there after work... good shout

  • cheers, worth a punt if i cant find any in stores..!

  • @rogan
IIRC we're similarly sized in the height and from what I'm reading here, I'm assuming also in the leg department.

I recommend a £35 pair of Uniqlo skinny fit selvedge jeans in the right size waist, then get them shortened and tapered professionally. All in this will set you back about £55-60 but they will last you a lot longer than 6 months.

  • Cheers, I know Uniqlo to alterations? but you wouldnt recommend them doing it i guess?
