  • Congratulations, a post without swear words! Your mum will be so proud ;)

  • Also on the cunt list was this guy - riding without a number on a full TT rig with bumbag and £10 tyres.

  • Also saw someone on a TT bike through Kingston, with no numbers and inexplicably wearing Spiderman tights

  • There lots and lots of TT bars on display despite every communication from Ride London making clear they were verboten.

  • ^^^ How short are those fucken shorts?

  • Nice to see the forum jersey and skinsuit in the field of rapha and club jerseys.

  • That was another crime

  • That guy look like a thundercunt.

  • Hah, I had that, then I turned my iPhone to landscape and Froomey magically appeared on the right

  • I like the seamless integration of aero gloves, aero arm warmers and a chunky iwatch. Proper bellend

  • You got me. I was doing a funny

  • haha it's not a race but here is team sky to inspire you to go as fast as you can

  • Machine gun nests every 5 miles to deal with cocks with no numbers.

Watching in Kingston in the afternoon, I was shocked by how many of them there was and that they were, largely, riding like cocks. By the afternoon, you had all the slower, wobbly, tired riders coming through (and that is not meant to be patronising - they are the people that the ride is about; I couldn't really give a toss about about those who can ride it in a quick time, I am more interested in those for whom the ride is a real step into the unknown). Anyway, mixing it up with those riders were plenty of cocks with no numbers, who probably only joined the ride in Esher, riding crit style and weaving through the riders. Fuck'em.

Mrs. JB's third RideLondon 100 and she is yet to actually get to ride 100 miles. This year was the worst and after the various crashes, she was diverted (via open roads, with no warning to riders that they were now mixing it up with cars!), no hills at all, and about 25 miles cut off the course. She was so pissed off.

Time to go and do something somewhere where they can deal with the numbers and you have a better chance of not having to stop for hours and walk lots and only get to ride 75% of the course!

    Rant over.

  • Likewise for my wife, her second year and second time she has been cut short, though she still did box but not Leith.

  • I thought I got away with that.

  • Here, have a couple of messed-up thumnails - fucked if I'm paying £18 for the originals!

  • Finish line action

  • Binned off my nice 6.20 start time to ride with my brother and friends an hour later. Got caught by the Pyrford block so spent and hour and a half in the field there before a nice walk.
Were the last people through to Leith before that was cut off, then stood at the bottom of that for another hour+. Was impressed by the guy (non-official, but with a couple of mates) who sparked up a spliff while waiting.
Eventually made it up Leith, but by then had missed the cut for Box by a couple of minutes. From there uneventful ride in, though nursing my brother along who was broken.
Just under 10 hours elapsed for 6 riding. Waiting and walking quite dull, but good spirits all round.
Finished with VIP passes on the finish line - cold beer, excellent canapes and a massage, before watching the sprint.

  • Sadly one of the riders who crashed yesterday has died. I've posted the details here:

  • 2013 - 163 watts average, 4:32
    2014 - rain
    2015 - 196 watts average, 4:36
    2016 - 184 watts average, 4:35

I clearly had some sort of parachute in 2015.

  • I was in 7.14 wave and we must have been some of the last people through as I saw the Pyford victim being worked on by medics so road must have been closed shortly after that.

Side effect of that was that later on in the ride there were no faster groups at all coming through from behind to latch on to and get a tow and I ended up on the front of a group all the way from Wimbledon to the finish where no-one at all came past us and no bugger would take a turn either.

  • One of the highlights for me was a guy polishing his Bianchi with wet wipes at the start. He didn't take kindly to me saying that he obviously just hadn't crashed it enough.

  • a guy polishing his Bianchi

    euph?

  • Well that was all a bit anti climatic. A very flat easy going course, box hill was underwhelmingly easy... I don't know what all the fuss is about! Leith hill was a killer though I must admit :-)

I didn't notice any other single gear/fixed riders out there?! There was a guy on a Boris bike though which I was quite impressed by.

My target time was 8 hours, managed it in just over 6 and a half, with up to an hour of that waiting for accidents and other slowdowns.

    Bigger gear next time.

  • Pretty Epic Day out! Got caught at Pryford for 2 hours then at there was a 30 minute backlog after where the road narrowed when finally did set off.

A late 08:41 start meant that I - for the 2nd year running - missed out on Leith.

07:32 chip time - about 5:30 of that I was actually moving. Happy with my average speed at a little under 20mph

DAS'd someone just coming into Merton - I was on a white Serotta riding for Tommy's - HAI!
