Re: the bottle cage mounts, this is the procedure:
http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/water-bottle-fittingsI didn't have a spare front QR axle so just cobbled together just enough spacers to have something for the QR cam to push against.

Bottle cages bolt easily remedy, drill out old one and pin new one in, any decent LBS can do it for you, shouldn't cost much.

Ok, it's the spider to crank interface I think, has anyone else got the lockring tool? Including shops in that question?

Belay that:

Saw this on WW, paint looks excellent for a non factory Cannondale.

Barely needed the tool to take the lockring off- and the face of the splines show wear which I think indicates that the spider was climbing the splines under load.
I'm pretty relieved to finally find something wrong - the crank is now back together, at 53Nm, with Loctite 243. I'll reassemble and then have everything crossed for it fixing the problem tomorrow.
If it does then it's one more BB30 fault that wasn't the BB30....

If all goes well, this will be off to a new owner by Monday. Completely stripped and cleaned, back to oem nearly, with tester-approved shell grease everywhere. Super silent and smooth. Not a reader's wives setup, set up within a mate's budget from what I had in the parts box. Not high end at all, but I'll miss it.

Great success! Thanks for all the prayers, they clearly worked.
For clarity - it was the lockring.

I thought the lesson was going to be avoid BB30, but it is actually take your bike to a competent professional mechanic for assembly. I'll be doing both to stay on the safe side. ;)

Aren't Soho Bikes more mtb oriented?
-

Yes, and to be fair both Cannondale and Powermeters are very much outside their normal metal. Anyway, all fixed now so all is well.
