  • Couple of 8+%ers for this evening, Northern Monk DIPA and Sly Fox Odyssey Imperial IPA.

Last night had Magic Rock Vinification & Farmhouse IPA both hitting the spot nicely before dinner at 6%+ each. Followed up some grub with Portobello APA which was quite drinkable.

  • ^^ yet to have those cans as the Northern Monk DIPA was on at the local, half a pint of that plus half a pint of Rapture pre dinner had to take it easy on gentler IPA's after otherwise it could've got messy...

The DIPA was like chewing a Genoa Cake.

  • Anyone else looking forward to Cloudwater DIPA v4 & v5 coming this Friday?

  • Sadly (or not sadly) I will be at a works do which has free drinks all night

From what I've heard V5 is better. I'll try to pop into The Bottle Shop on Saturday for a couple of bottles.

  • KLAXON

New batch of Yellow Belly is being brewed right now

  • ^ still got my first bottle Yellowbelly. Thought it was a keeper, not found right night to drink it yet.

Think i may dabble in the v4 & v5 depends how pricey they've got them at.

  • @rhb you've been restrained enough to not have the yellow belly yet? It's so damn good.

  • Yeah, just not had right occasion plus it's at back of cupboard as a keeper.

  • Managed to pick up the DIPAs yesterday, will crack them open at the weekend. Nearly bought Thornbridge's sours (Love Amongst the Ruins and Days of Creation) but balked at the £14.95 each for 375ml price tag.

  • ^ Ale, nice but a bit pricey?

How much $$$ for the DIPA's?

  • Have to buy in pairs, £9 for both

  • That's not bad. Looks like I missed out at my LOL judging by their tweets.

  • yellow belly

On it now. Pretty damn good.

  • Seven Bro7hers IPA & Stout are 3 for £5 in my local coop. The IPA was nice enough this eve.

  • Berlin beers were good, more about those another time though...

Just opened a bottle of De Struise/Bridge Road's Imperialist - didn't realise it was a lager (well... imperial larger) when I bought it, thankfully it's not dressed up Special Brew! Tasty, thankfully not too fizzy, would drink again.

  • Went to a bottle share hosted by Tim Anderson, head chef at Nanban. He gave us a bottle of his latest collaboration with Weird Beard called Sally Squirrel Teenage Detective. It's a walnut, chokeberry and miso porter fermented with saki yeast. Bloody mental but tasted incredibly savoury and moorish, umami central.

  • Sally Squirrel Teenage Detective

Great name, not in my Local yet.

    Did get:

    Cloudwater DIPAv4 (no v5)
    Vocation Smash & Grab
    Buxton Imperial Black
Blackjack / Thornbridge Choc Orange Milk Stout

    Vocation v.tasty, lots of peach.

  • Woah!

  • Off work Tuesday and planning a little jaunt out, was going to find some small brewery in Essex and fill the panniers. Any recommends?

  • From Beermoth?

  • Yes, it's pricey... £6 or so, but that can... 13%... stout... killing the breakfast beer game

  • Gonna see if it's local, Can is awesome, beer sounds awesome.

  • None of the awesomeness from ^ at my local. Got some first chop & two roads brewery cans. TR Lil' Heaven session IPA is nice enough, about to hit the slightly stronger Honeyspot Rd.
