  • Cheer man. Bit on the pricey side no?

  • Forerunner 235, best running watch I've ever owned*§

    *I've only ever owned two
    §I'm pretty slow

  • Thanks - that's what I'm planning to get.

Does anybody know any online retailers stocking them? Trying to find someone who will send one overseas with the VAT knocked off.

  • I got mine from Wiggle not sure how they deal with tax matters though.

  • But when Google and Facebook won't pay their taxes, that's a bad thing...

  • I don't live in the UK at the moment but I pay plenty of tax there.

I could buy it in Hong Kong but then the UK would get zero benefit.

    So there.

  • Showing as not available to me on Wiggle. Suspect they're not allowed to sell abroad.

They usually deduct VAT and ship for free so with the weak pound, I have been spunking a lot in their direction of late.

Garmins are an extra 30-40 US dollars here despite there being no sales tax.

  • Evans remove VAT for overseas and ship free to HK, so looks around £192

  • Came up to the Lakes to do the Rydal Round. Got there to find very low lying cloud and rain which meant it was significantly shortened, more like a guides race. Ran up and down in about 35 minutes.

  • Done - thanks for that.

  • I'm after fellow runners' advice.

About 3 - 4 weeks ago I did my first half marathon, managed it fine in 1 hour 52 mins or there abouts.
Then I went on holiday to France. I only got the one run whilst away in France, the rest of the time I was cycling. When I got back I was slow to pick up the running again, 2 times a week, but now back up to at least 3. I didn't exactly watch what I was eating either.
    However,

Now, I feel I can barely breathe, my breathing sounds as if at points, I'm going to hyperventilate, this can be controlled with steady breathing practices, but it's still getting to me. Also, my legs, my legs are dead, they feel like dead weights, aching, every time I go out. My nose is constantly congested.
    Its really getting to me.
Does this sound like me being more out of shape, or hay fever?

Possibly either, else you're running too fast when you head out. Try running as slow as you can without being reduced to walking.

  • 30 hours from ordering my watch to arriving in HK.

Fucking impressive - although I suspect its progress will slow down now. This city has its own pace.

  • Parkran this morning. Lovely morning for it, PB and first back. Happy days!

  • Also there's definitely something screwy with my 405. Coaxed it back to life but the data is weird in GC. Fine in Strava though. Think a 235 is on the cards.

  • Short run here 4 miles to mobilise legs a bit, had done only bike commutes this week as felt more tired than expected after last weekend.

    Felt good, which is good.

  • Thanks for that. Lots of running going on in the Lakes today and I didn't realise. Could have got to see a lot of racing.

A lad I know from school, Ben abdelnoor, is doing the 50.

  • Yeah got a couple of club mates doing the 50 as a pair.

  • uphill mountain running trials today as well, it looked particularly brutal.

  • Ouch. I've been hitting max hr just fast-walking up peak hills at times, can't imagine running up owt significantly steeper & longer!

  • Last proper run was back in early June. Going to the Alps for a week long holiday with the family and will have plans to sneak out on a few runs.

  • You'll be desperate to go out running there, the scenery is amazing and the trails are also very well marked. I'm trying to work out when I can get back out there, or at least up to the Peaks / Lakes. I'm trying to find some trails around London to run on, which don't require a massive train journey.

@sirlarry my legs felt dead when I was attempting to run through a virus, could that be it?

  • 1st race in 5 years yesterday @ the lee valley 5k. Finished 7th out of 50 odd and 4th Male, not too shabby plus a pb.
