    Personally I don't agree with charity organisations as a whole nor the whole fundraising that people participate in, i digress.

    I would not want to cause a problem for the organisers, I was merely asking if people are able to do the route without all the faff. I am also not interested in a medals, but thank you for your resources all the same.

  • Nobody pays the entrance fee for the medal or the road-side support; they pay for the privilege of riding on closed and marshalled roads. The fund-raising aspect follows as a matter of course, to varying degrees. The point is, without paying the fee there would be no event. But here's an idea: maybe you could ride the exact same route the following Saturday - no faff.
