Tbh I'm a complete noob when it comes to clipless- but my understanding was that I was just going to get three bolt cleats that fit the pedals I end up getting.

Two types, Shimano and Look. Shimano are easier to get cleats for, but its much of a much ness, as you say, whichever pedals you use you get the cleats for.

Let me have a look when I get home to make sure I can find the pedals!!! And will you need them posted?
