You say that - I wonder how much of a faff it would be to machine a custom case with those specs? Might be my next project...

I'm considering that too. Seen some amazing custom cases. I'm toying with the idea of making one out of plastic first then metal and wood..

Im sure its pretty simple machining an aluminium square with rounded corners. Getting the bead-blast finish to match the mini would be super hard though.
Not sure how easy parts are to DIY an external GPU either but in theory it should be easy.
You could even just 3D print the case, to be honest. Have it up and running in a day.

It would be great if they combined the Mini and Pro... Have a Xeon option for the Mini and a matching, stackable thunderbolt GPU to convert it to the full-fat version.
