So festive update:
The bike is now fully operational borrowing a pair of wheels and purchasing some cheap Zefal Christophe toe straps. I haven't used it much but the unpadded, uncovered fivegold is not as bad as I had feared.
some photos of it in the local Christmas lights, the white paint and silver bits look really good under the lights though didn't really come out well at all. May try and get some proper photos soon.

Thanks
Have had luck with the rims (hope I haven't jinxed it) Just need to sort some other bits and bobs out. Going back to college has slowed things down a lot.
Still keen on keeping it Dura Ace, I think the 7600s would look good contrasting the vibrant colours on the bike already.

So change in plan with the wheels.
After thinking about how much they would cost overall (with the import tax and the wheel building fare ect.) and after realising that tubs arent that bad anyway I kind if splashed out a bit and went fullish NJS on it.I'll get some pictures when they arrive.

Please with more light this time (the pictures)!

So just received the wheels all the way from @panic. They are really nice and seem to be in great condition. I think they are full NJS: Soyo tubs, Araya Gold rims, Dura Ace 7600 hubs, Hoshi spokes.
Still need to et the Cog and a front dura Ace wheelnut but then will be done.
The weather isn't great and anything shiny comes out way too strong on the camera so had to take them inside near the window; the brightest part of the house, so apoligies for that.
The tires aren't exactly the same ones, which hurts my self diagnosed OCD a little bit.
The spokes are soldered at the intersects which is pretty cool.

Would you be interested in a 13+14 dura ace cog set? brand new in black 1 1/8th £20 posted for you to get ya going
-
• #265
man why didn't you say you needed a cog. i have a 16t dura ace that i will probably never use.. couldn't find the wheel nut, someone must have taken it from the whole on the box you mentioned
-
• #266
I've got a 52 ring on the front, tiny legs and no brakes so I think I will probably go with a 17T+ cog, at least until I get huge.
Some more piccies:
Because I am not obsessed about anything NJS at all.

Great looking wheels. DA laced in Araya Gold is such a pretty combination.

Nice wheels! Looking forward to seeing them on the bike ;)

Went to the lbs and they very luckily had a dura ace wheelnut to match the other one. They also happened to have some soyo grips so picked them up as well.
There is now an andel cog and dura ace lockring on the wheel.
Would have taken some pictures today but I cant pump the tires up to a safe amount to get it anywhere.
Its a Dunlop vavle and my presta/Schrader pump can only get it to around 60psi. -

actually, here are some pictures of it:

I was just trying to pump up the rear tire (Dunlop Valve) using the presta pump bit - I was told this would work. I had tried before but it never went above 60 PSI; I thought I'd give it another go before I got an adaptor. IT was going well, I got it to around 100 PSI, then when I took off the pump head and the valve bit shot out such that now I just have the threaded section of the valve attached to the tire.
Has this happened to anyone before, is that the tire done for?

• #272
you can out it back in. or is it lost? don't mind the readout from the pump as well because it doesn't hold on well.
also looking great. i think there should be less black on the bars
-
• #273
I will try on the grips but I'll also be on the lookout for some nice black tape. Any ideas?
