No, but I've read accounts of people doing so on old rim-brake touring tandems with full panniers e.g.
I also know the couple who lugged a tandem round the Highland Trail this year and know how light their tandem/kit was in comparison. I'm not saying it'd be easy, but I think it'd be possible for the right pair to give it a good go...
Too hilly? Is there such a thing?! What are people's estimated climbing figures?
I think the logistics of getting a tandem back from Turkey are more of an issue...
