• Sorry to hear that, J. Glad you're OK. I have no personal experience, but judging from previous accounts by people who have wanted to rely on the police to investigate, they needed quite a lot of chasing. I think it really depends on the circumstances of your crash, e.g. is CCTV easily available/decent quality? I assume that you will both want the driver to face consequences as well as to receive compensation for your bike, and I suspect that you should try to involve the legal profession ASAP.

  • Thanks Oliver, I got very lucky but I seem to be perfectly fine.
The problem I have at the moment is I don't know who the driver was, Im relying on CCTV to get the details of the license plate. There was a witness to the accident who took down a plate number but it came back registered to a motorcycle in Manchester. The police seem to think theres a chance that the plates are false (the car had illegal window tints etc) in which case Im pretty much screwed but they also reckon that there was a camera that would have caught the incident. So at this stage Im relying on the police to chase up the cctv footage to make any sort of progress.

  • As ever see the what to do in case of an accident thread, but there's no need to wait for the police to get the CCTV if you are OK doing some legwork.
