  • Testing the water with a heavy heart! Offering a lovely Moser Leader AX that I got off this very forum just under a year ago (https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/275199/). I have been using it as my commuter bike, but it is really too nice for that and I am a little bit paranoid that it might get pinched (tyhe wheels at least!). Anyway, thinning out my bike collection so it is up for grabs.

I had a full strip and rebuild service about 6 weeks ago and the only issue that I have with it is that the headset seems to loosen itself (also the stem is missing the plastic cover). Condition wise it is very good (I know I do need to give it a clean - will be done before pick up!), with just a few chips and some rubbing on the cranks.

    Main details as follows:

Frame/fork: Moser Oria chromoly (56cm c-c seat tube, 55.5cm top tube)
    Veloce 9 speed shifters
    Chorus rear mech
    Chorus brakes
    Centaur front mech
    Chorus chainset
It has a turbo saddle on it at the moment that doesn't really match - the only white saddle I have is a well-used carbon SLR that is extremely light but not exactly comfortable (it can come with either & will remove pedals as they are a bit of an eyesore!)

I paid £650 last year - looking for £550 all in (don't really want to split at the moment).

Pick up from Battersea (or Clerkenwell at lunchtimes/early evening). I wanted to get this up before I go away next Monday (01/08) for work (back on 11/08).

  • I have (can take) other photos, but they were too big for the original listing

  • Beautiful bike and you shouldn't have any problems selling it.
    If you split -
Dibs on F & F and seat post.

  • Out of curiosity, what's the seatpost? Timex?

  • Not sure on the seatpost - will check tonight

  • I think it will be the specific " quill " type seat post which fits this particular frame.

  • Quick update:

I have the Ultremo tyres with the pink stripes that were on the original bike and can throw those in as well.

Condition-wise I have noticed that the decals on the non-drive side of the rear wheel are peeling, there is some tarnishing/rusting on some of the bolts (nothing major) and one of the bar end plugs has done a runner (it was there the other day!).

  • Campagnolo Chorus My bet ;)

  • I've got one of these and they are amazing frames. Great price inc shamals as well should go quick! glws

  • If someone fancies the wheels, id take the bike without them.

  • Might be for the right price..

  • It would be the first expanding aero seatpost I've seen then!

  • I am interested in wheels

  • Can I come see it early evening tomorrow in Clerkenwell?
I might take it all if it fits.

  • Tomorrow is fine. Have Pm'd

  • Thought you were riding 54 cm frames these days? You might at the very least need to shorten that stem...

  • I am riding from 54 up to 58!
The Leader AX in yellow is a 54 with a 110mm stem I think,
the Olmo is a 54 with a 120mm stem while
the Somec is a 56 with a 100mm stem and, lastly,
    the Holdsworth is a 58 with a 90mm stem!

I think 54.5/55 is my correct size with a 100mm stem. So this might fall perfectly lenght-wise. My only worry is the height. The Leader AX in Bugno colors I had recently was a 58, but due to the way the seatpost works, you need to add a couple of cm to the minimum saddle height and, in fact, on that one I could barely touch the pedals!

  • Lovely bike, glad its not a 54...

Are you the chap i was talking to on St John's last week? I was on the blue Argos saying you were crazy to lock it outside!

  • Yep, that was me!

  • Well having seen it in the flesh i can vouch for how nice this is!

    GLWS

  • yep saw it in the flesh earlier today.
Very nice and paint in great conditions. Smartly mounted with the 10Sp Chorus.
Lovely seatpost, forgot to take pictures of it :-(

  • So as lovely as it is and my favorite color I think i will pass and regret on this. It's slightly big, I can be forced on it, but will not enjoy it properly. Hadn't I completed the other Leader Ax I would have taken it.

The aero seat post, if it is an original and not an adaptation of an aero seat post, is a rare jewel.

Group set and wheels are top notch as it is the frame.

It's a bargain, really, take it or I will after I come to my senses.

  • Come on, whenever did an ill-fitting bike stop anyone?

  • ah :) almost never...as I said, I already have a Leader AX, lighter and all, so really no need for this. Also there were a couple of people who'd be willing to share the parts.
