Cyclocross - CX and SSCX races and training

Just realised that next week is Hog Hill. Someone else will have to be last, as I can't be arsed with 20 miles out there, an hour of sweat and then 25+ miles home.

Ha, fair enough! I had no idea who I was racing, to be honest. Ended up in a battle with a Penge guy for the second half of the race. Managed to crack him on the last lap :)

Can anyone recommend a tapered carbon CX disc fork that won't break the bank?

what time is sign on / race start on Thursday? the 5th floor website that's hosting summer series details appears to be down

The Hog Hill round is on Wednesday. The race is scheduled to start at 7 pm, sign on will close 15 minutes beforehand.

You're pulling my pisser, scheduled work to do a late one Wednesday so I could get out early enough to do this on Thursday.

I've had six months to train, still not sorted that out.

I thought the whole purpose of summer cross was to remind one that your natural fitness state isn't high enough to race on and you'd better start training pronto?

I'm ahead of the curve, I'm going to use my first race in the proper season to do that.

Tomorrow's Hog Hill round is cancelled.

Pity, but it does save me the prospect of a long ride home in the rain afterwards.

Yeah, I can actually make the IC,but there's no way I'd have got to Hog Hill in time after work. Plus, you know, beer and silly outfits.

Ok I want to give this a go for teh lols .. do I need a BC license for summer series? Are their categories in CX? I will fall under 'chopper to avoid riding around' cat.

What cheap tyres should I get? Already have a cross bike set up as winter/commuter road bike with slick tyres and mudguards.

Are unshaved legs ok?

Put a pair of Knards on last night for IC, first race since Teenslain's 2009 track day.

I'll be hanging off the back in a RCC jersey on the pink straggler. How do I best avoid pissing off people who will actually be racing? Keep left?
