0n 20/07/1974 the Turkish troops invaded Cyprus resulting in the occupation of 40% of the island. More than 160000 are still refugees, more than 1600 are still missing and Nicosia is the only European capital that is still divided.
This photo is taken in Nicosia, beyond that point is the UN buffer zone or as we call it the Green Line. Everything beyond that point is unchanged since 1974.
I chose not to show whats behind those barracks since we cant go there for over 42 years.
