  • Pissing it down now.

  • not bothering Sagan for one minute. pulls for 50km, rest of the break taking turns for 50 meters and he's back at the front...

@andyp thinking back, this is the stuff Cancellara could have done for Trek.

  • Fair play Froome may win this thing but for me it's Sagan's tour. In transition/sprint stages I don't think he's finished outside the top three. Three stage wins which is his equal biggest haul I believe, run away green jersey winner, and then on top of that getting into breaks and working for teammates. He is ridiculous.

  • As the comms and press keep saying, he's our generation's Merckx. I don't think it's possible to overstate how good he is - and the most wonderful thing is just how much he simply LOVES RIDING HIS BIKE. It's glorious.

  • he will remain many GT GC wins short of Merckx, but in the sense of 'greatest cyclist' of the past few years, he certainly gets my vote

  • Well, it's a different era innit. Far more specialism; had he been competing in the 60s/70s, he'd be picking up GT wins I reckon. I'm not sure there's been a rider since Hinault who could win on a mountainous (not high mountains, maybe little ones) stage one day and win a sprint the next.

  • Bring the Sag love. I'm on board. The most consistently exciting cyclist to watch. Last year's season has only made this year's (and the world champs) all the more excellent.

  • Costa and Rolland off again?

  • Unless a sprinter wins a whole hatful of stages no-one else will get near the green jersey. Cav had won four and by the time he climbed off he was a distant second. Consistent top three, able to sprint hard for the intermediates while the pure sprinters save themselves, getting into breaks to pick up sprint points on lumper sections, and picking up stage wins as well. He'll set a record for green wins that won't be beaten for a very long time.

  • that rain looks horrible. thanks f*ck it's them not me blasting down the mountain right now

  • 'tis! also: maybe he's proving that specialisation isn't the way to go, doing the Olympic mountainbike race as well :)

  • I dunno about that; he's a one in a generation talent. If every rider re-config'd to be a Sagan, he'd win 10 stages a year!

  • Frankly terrifying looking up the valley and seeing that weather there, knowing it is hiding a mountain you gotta ride up, and down the other side. It's up for grabs now, one mistake can decide the Tour.

  • I like Pantano. He looks possessed atm

  • Sagan awarded most combative. Clearly the jury used their hearts not their heads @Hefty ;)

  • Aru goes backwards, running on fumes

  • Bauke!

  • Whoa Mollema! I thought he was broken, where did he find the strength?

  • I wish Kirby wouldn't pretend he had inside information or ESP which allowed him to explain every little smile, grimace, and attack.

  • Pantano!

  • This decent is going to be good

  • Anyone see the moto bashing Alaphillipe?

    FML.

  • This is brilliant. I hope they manage to close the gap to Nibbles before the descent.

  • Will yates go fit or bust to get 3rd place back ?

  • Reeling Nibbles in, looking forward to the descent...
