You won't need to chop anything, you just plonk it in the top, tighten it up and treat it as extra steerer

What about the star nut?
Either it's the extender with a quill and therefore I'm still in same predicament or it's one of the ones that sits over the tope of the steerer which I can't use without chopping because I can't clamp onto threading. -
• #77629
It's the one with the quill. It acts as the star nut, the bolt for the quill is threaded down the middle for a top cap.
-
• #77630
There's no point as I'd still have to use the current threadless/threaded combo setup.
-
• #77631
You wouldn't, you won't need any lock nuts, it'll tension like a full-length threadless steerer

That would actually work.

Definitely worth a go...

Fuuuuckkk OK now I see...yeah that would work!
I didn't completely understand how the steerer extender worked. -

It's a piece of cloth and a (toe)strap.

I'm possibly moving to London in September, have ridden fixed in Edinburgh for a few years and wondering if anyone would recommend riding in London for someone from a quieter city?

This is an Axiom axle runner. It means you fit mudguards to any bike with QR skewers.
But I want something similar, that I can use to fit a front rack to a bike with a solid front axle. The rack has stupid big ends on the stays which interfere with the track nuts, and also, it would fit better/flatter if they were placed a little bit further forward.
Does such a thing exist? Would it be a good idea?

oops, wrong person

No sewing required as long as you use something like a piece of waxed cotton or similar. Roll it up like a taco and ay wala.
Rivet or use chicago bolts to attach the strap if you want that kind of security and can't/won't sew. You can also pop a couple of holes through the cloth and thread the strap through. It's not really necessary though. -

Will look into this. Cheers :)

Most Evans cycles will carry just about any length. It's the go to spoke in their workshops

Nope, same for me.

I would.

It's easier in many ways. More infrastructure and drivers are more used to cyclists

Coming from commuting through a 'quieter' major city daily, I threw myself into Friday night rush hour traffic straight off the train and found it pretty pleasant. Lots of cycle lanes, lots of other cyclists about to follow their lead while you get to grips with the systems in place, pretty good (relatively) awareness from drivers. Would recommend.

Any reason why the (alloy) Deda Superzero stem is recommended for use with carbon bars only, aside from a torsional stiffness aspect? Can get one cheap and looking to use with existing (alloy) Zero 100 bars for teh aeroz.

Do you reckon that would be safer? It would also mean chopping the threading off a reasonably rare pair of P2 threaded 1 1/8" forks which I'm a little reluctant to do.
