  • So this turned up on eBay (luckily I'd set up a followed search for Anchors on eBay..) and within minutes of seeing it, it was mine.. It has already made its way over from Japan so hopefully Parcelforce don't fuck around with it and make me wait ages for customs charges.

I'm really excited for this build, I've built road bikes before but they've all been vintage and really nothing too special. So with this I want to build something rad, definitely aiming for HHSRB. The build will start off pretty standard for now and I'll upgrade as I save some money.

The frame came with the majority of a 6500 groupset which I'll use for the time being (cranks, bb, brakes and mechs). I have an aksium rear and ksyrium front to use wheel wise. I pretty much need to buy everything else though. I should be able to afford it when i sell my road Neil Orrell.

Eventually I'd like to get a more modern group, probably 105 5800 as it appears to be pretty good value for money. Buuuuut, I could attempt to get at sugino 75 road group which would be so fucking rad... but not sure, will be so high $$$

Anyway, stay tuned! better pics will come once it arrives!

  • Looks good, going pink+silver or pink+black?

  • Not too sure, I think I'll see what it looks like the the parts I have and go from there. I'm struggling to find frames with the same pink for inspiration. These are closest, I reckon definitely black wheels

  • If you managed to get a sugino groupset then HHSRB thread will be game over..

On a more realistic note, I think all black parts except seatpost, cranks, hubs and spokes would be winning combo.

Possible first piece of the puzzle here

  • +1 for silver parts!

  • Looking nice. I would want to get some navy in there.

  • Sugino 75 road is ambitious. Go for it. Good luck

  • Or just get Suntour Superbe Pro.

  • DA7700

  • Hmm would be rad but looks like I'd have to order parts from Japan... and it would be around £100-150 per part...

Having a closer look at what it is, some bits are rebranded Suntour bits. The main parts I like are cranks, and levers but getting levers would mean no sti's.

  • All the suggestions are good but I'm tempted to go modern and have something which works perfectly. So maybe I'll go for 5800 mechs, shifter and brakes or similar, silver cranks (7700 look nice, sugino maybe, something nice).

  • This has the potential to be amazing. What are you thinking for wheels?

  • For the time being just a rear black mavic aksium and a silver Ksyrium on the front which I'm planning on paint markering black.

Really I want a set of all black rims which really means carbon.. Probably shallow. I'll either look for something pre built on here or get a set built for me. My knowledge on road stuff is pretty limited so I'll have to do some research on it.

But that'll have to wait for a while as I've banned myself buying anything new for the next few months..

  • Suntour superb pro in black ? -

    Here

    and here

  • Only issue with The Suntour is no sti shifters

  • It's a bummer they never offered stis... How awesome would it be to create your own interpretation of a suntour sp sti based on the mechanics of a da 7403 sti?

  • @Sig_Arlecchino would be cool but a bit ambitious for me.

So far I'm torn between modern 5800 with some nice silver cranks, or 7700 with this chainring.

  • I've built up a pink Caad10 (Jonny if you read post some better pictures!) with a modern ultegra and looked rad.

  • ^Awesome! How does it ride?

  • Is that a 54? How tall are you?

  • If I remember correctly it should be a 58.
It was for a customer (on here sometimes).

  • I have a nitto/Specialized bar and stem combo and Sugino/Specialized crankset/bb to sell if you're interested.

  • Yeah that looks about right actually.
I tend to judge size by the headtube but they look quite short on these And with the chunky DT, thought it looked smaller. Rad anyway

  • That looks banging, the black does look good

  • Might be interested but it won't be until I sell some stuff first. Got any pics?
