Oh, for entertainment value - I mean, we all love a good scrap, don't we? But seriously folks, I don't know where that diatribe came from and it might help if somebody could pinpoint objectively what I've done to upset this guy.

....when you try to do someone a favour....
After a bit of PM traffic, this is what I got when I responded to somebody's "want" by saying that I have said wanted item/s and he can have it/them for whatever he thinks is reasonable and within his budget.
"I really think you're talking rot, as I've seen countless wanted ads and never once one where a person has then specified a price- it simply sounds (pathetically) as though you've backed yourself into a corner after having been called out over your likely money grasping behaviour, so then decide to come up with this business of a rule. And even if there was a coincidence of a rule like this actually existing, you couldn't fail to note the wanted ad general ignorance of this rule (as described above), as well as the fact that the rule that IS commonly known is that for sale classified ads have to have a price stated by sellers, which would naturally lead wanted ad posters to expect that their replies to the ad should come with a price included. And as for your glibness in ignoring my argument- and not even having the courtesy to achnowledge it- for not suggesting a price myself, this rudeness, combined with the above no-brainer reading of the situation, can leave a person in no doubt what your true intention was here... After going to such great lengths to describe and photograph your parts and then ignore/be discourteous about the above, this can only be read as clearly suspicious- I have no time to be dealing with people like you, so I'll leave this issue here now- I'm just glad at having done my bit for society in making a stand on this kind of thing, and possibly will cause you to reflect before dealing with another wanted ads poster the same way..."
No names, no pack drill, of course, but he talks about my "money grasping" and being "in no doubt" about my true intention. Where does he get that from? I thought I was just trying to help out a dude and get rid of a bit of vintage kit, which I have too much of, which is no longer being used and which I'm not fussed about in terms of value. Somehow I bet if I'd come right out and offered the kit for nothing, he'd have bitten my hand off. But then, he's just proved that I was right not to do that. Funny old world, innit?
