can still often get away with it though

I have some insect repellent that's citrus based so the guy on the Croix de Fer smelling heavily of lemons will be me.

It's fast.
You go up a hill, then down a technical bit, up the hill, then down the hill, then up the hill, then straight (along a slight incline), then down the hill in a technical fashion, then there's a straight to the finish.
Repeat. -

This is gonna be my first proper CX race - I don't think Incredibly Cross counts, does it? So I'll be hanging out the back too I imagine. Reckon I'll haemorrhage time on the technical bits.
What's the latest time for sign on, anyone know?

Hopefully lateish, as I won't be there till 6.30!

Good show of forum jerseys tonight. Maybe DAS was not the most encouraging thing to shout at someone in the middle of a race, but I thought it was appropriate!
-
• #4783
Yeah, thanks for the DAS. Given how long it was taking me to get up to speed, there was no way I was trying a skid.
Fun evening despite finishing DFL. Nice to meet the other jersey repper, Jack. Hiya!

Christ that was hard. Damned grass. Bad day to forget my hayfever gear.
Did see one forum Jersey on my way round (the lime planet x - hello!) but was breathing too much to shout anything.
Beer on the train home from Hayes was excellent.

I don't think you were DFL, I passed the guy wearing the LCC jersey more than I passed you.
I've got sore legs this morning.
-
• #4786
Hi!
Oh yeah, I forgot about the LCC chap, but I think he pulled out before the last lap, as I didn't see him as I was sweeping up the circuit. There was a VCL lady behind me, that was it, I think.
-
• #4787
Well you beat me because I didn't turn up!
Good job for getting out there people
-
• #4788
Who won?
-
• #4789
Neon Velo chap won, Alec
PeddlarBriggs was second I think.I yelled DAS at someone as I passed - I was in the green jersey on the green kinesis.
That's my first proper bike race! Don't think Incredibly Cross counts, does it? Had some fun battles on the way and learnt a lot. Handling improved exponentially every lap I think. I think I must have finished in glorious mid table mediocrity. Never thought it was gonna be that hard, and didn't realise I could hold my heart rate that high for that long. -

-
• #4794
That's me! Who are you?
-
• #4795
I'm the guy in front of you in that pic.

• #4796
Some shit FSA ones. Which rotated forward when I hit a pothole just before the dead turn prior to the finish line on the first lap.
-
• #4797
Wotcha!
-
• #4799
Ah shit! I thought I was gonna have you for a bit - think we yo-yo'd for a couple of laps, but I lost you when we got lapped/lapped some riders at the same time I think. No idea how far ahead of me you finished in the end.
Really interesting in CX how you're basically just racing the people you're immediately with. -
• #4800
Don't take this the wrong way, but I was racing in the Vets so was racing people I was immediately with - in that pic I'm in hot pursuit of my mate Dougie, trying to work out if I was catching him or not. (I did, got him with a couple of laps to go).
You were going well though.
No bikes on the overground between 4pm and 7pm though, no?
