What do you guys think about the Clement Strada LGG gumwalls or the Conti GP Classics?
-
• #3478
Conti classics look like shit. I've had Veloflex Masters, they were fine, only cut up when I rode them on a greasy late autumn day and all the flint got in them

This. Found mine fine until October. Then a puncturefest. Just gotta know when to put them away for the season.

I'm very happy with my Clement Strada LGG for commuting, but think they only do the higher TPI version up to 25c in gumwall flavour.
-
• #3481
The other way around actually, the claimed 120 tpi option is only on black wall.

Latex tubes are whack

I could have sworn I the 25c gumwalls I ordered were 120TPI, but internetz backs up what you say. This does however go to show that TPI ain't everything, because I think they ride pretty well, even at 60TPI. Very happy with them, although others have had puncture issues, I've not.

anyone seen any deals on 25c Vittoria Open Corsa CX III £25 or less?
-
• #3485
What rims are you using and what is the real width of the tyre? Considering them but most says the 25c is actually narrower.
Maybe have to get 28c? -
• #3486
The 28c's came up a lot bigger when I had them. Swapped them for the 25c's which are pretty much on the nose on my 18mm internal rims. They're a good tyre but nowhere as supple as a true cotton gumwall a la Veloflex or Vittoria Corsas.
But if you just want that gumwall look for general riding & commuting duties you can't really go wrong. -

These are identical to CXIII, but with a slightly different tread I think- 24c though...

What sort of mileage have people been getting from Corsa G+?
Had a few punctures in mine over the past week, thinking it might be time to replace. Currently got about 3250 km on them... they still look fine though! -
• #3491
Have the tread gone now?
3250km is above average for that kind of tyres.
-
• #3492
No, tread still looks ok.... Sidewall is looking a bit tiered though.
Have had three slow punctures in the last two weeks though, which leads me to think are running a bit thin. -
• #3493
Cheers!
-
• #3494
Hardly.
They disintegrated in their packaging even before fitting...
Fuck that...

I recently fitted a set of these in 25c after getting punctures on 23c Conti GP4k and getting tired of 23c.
I've done a bit of riding on the Michelins, including Chilterns Classic in torrential downpour, and I'm finding them good.
Good value - would recommend.
Veloflex Masters are too thin, they would be fine as a race tyre but not for rough roads/everyday use. Swapped mine out after a few hundred km because I was getting so many punctures.
I'm selling some brand new Challenge gumwalls, PM me if you're interested! /spam
