just rinsed nearly 30 great balls trying to catch a 600+cp slowpoke which appeared when i quickly checked the app at my desk.

i swear this game is rigged. used razz berries, great ball, get excellent rating on perfect throws three times and he still escapes again. random throws where the ball just drops at my feet or flies off the side of the screen.

Level 16 but when I hit 17 I'm going to use a lucky egg and evolve like 100 pokemon to jump way up.

The plan worked, 35 evolutions or so later I'm level 18 1/2.

Checked pokevision before leaving work, there is a mile stretch at the start down a quiet road that I keep my phone on for. It said it was empty but I caught 2 drowzees, a jynx and a licitongue, also hatched a voltorb.

Just used it to go get a squirtle and loads of other who were not on the map were around

Maybe it shows some that are there for everyone but there are others that pop up a bit more randomly.

The poke vision Map is built from the data feeding the footstep grid in the bottom right of game.

Balls, just did an egg and incense to hit level 10 from my sofa and the servers are being dicks.

Servers will clear up about midnight now.

Wasted them.

For the lucky eggs you should catch loads and loads of pidgy and then evolve them in a huge bunch. 12 pidgy candy per evolve, 500xp per evolve(which doubles to 1k). It will take a few days but store up all your evolutions and do them in bulk for the xp.

That was the plan.

I'm level 17, top Pokemon is a level 900+ Hypno, I frittered away my stardust though, much regret, wow.

Sorry to be a pedant but that's not a fatwa on Pokemon Go but a restatement of the fatwa on Pokemon in all its forms. Mainly to break up the huge betting syndicates amongst 9 year old kids playing the card version between stonings.

it doesn't show pokemon that are only on your instance, only those that spawn for everyone.

so lures and incense pokemon won't show up.

the further i level the more i think it's worth saving candy for any pokemon that isn't a ratatta or pidgey and resisting the urge to use the 50 candy evolutions when levelling.

closing in on lvl20 now but i'm only catching 9/10 pokemon and using a shit ton of balls to do so now, when the next generations finally come out and you can probably evolve a golbat into crobat for example or whatever you'll need a lot of candy to evolve him to the 3rd evolution and by that point you'll only be seeing 200-400cp zubats which require much more effort to catch so farming the candy will be much more difficult by that point.
