I have been saying it is about values for ages - and nothing to do with austerity.

Some people have made the point that it's about the divide between those who have benefited from and embraced globalisation, and those who have been hurt by and recoil from it.
There's obvious correlation with economic outcomes, and the emphasis on traditional values is part of how those hurt by globalisation reject the whole package.
Edit to add - Corbyn's dilemma was that he rejects the fact that globalisation is being driven by capitalism, but many people who aspire to leftist social values are internationalists. Which is a hard set of things to square.

What values in particular?
-

Traditional ones.

And a reading of the Ashcroft poll also shows that.
But some documentaries show it's pure xenophobia, others show it's economic...
Note though that some old farts see this as an opportunity to "undo" the initial EU vote. Values or not, they never wanted it.

^ I just read the summary, but interesting.
I can only imagine the response from the EDL if Scotland continued to allow free movement of people.

Low Cost holidaymakers likely to get just £7.78 refund. Thousands of holidaymakers who booked travel with Low Cost Holidays may get a refund of just £7.50 each, the BBC understands.
Would it be petty to hope that the majority of those affected by this are leave voters?

yes. but probably worth it.

Just got a quote for a batch of equipment for a client. The kit is made in South Korea by a US owned company.
Prices are nearly 30% higher than they were before the referendum.

• #4291
Did they say why? Just the drop of the £ VS the $?
Or that and a sneaky price increase on top?

• #4292
Mainly exchange rate but they're putting a larger than normal margin on top to mitigate against further volatility.

tell me dear remainers how is your Morgan Stanley / Goldman Sachs funded Mischon de Raya legal challenge to the invocation of art. 50 going? Obviously Morgan Stanley & Goldman must really care for the '99%' or for the apparent increasing state of social inequality in the UK...

• #4297
sorry Reya*

• #4298
Do you have a point to make or are you just trolling?
Oh.
-
• #4299
so it's not true that the remain campaign was funded by MS/GS (and thus most likely the Mischon del Reya legal challenge)? Because that was the point. it seems that on this forum different Stance = troll

Not aware of whether or not they are funding Mishcon's case, but it is possible that staying in the EU might benefit both Morgan Stanley / Goldman Sachs AND the general population of the UK, you know. Unless you think the economy is one of those things that just affects other people?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-36803544 more fun reading on brexit statistics...
The Ashcroft exit poll DID show a strong correlation between extreme poverty and Brexit.
But also a correlation (reasonably strong...but not 70%) between traditional values and other values.
Well, you know what they say about statistics, but if you like reading... :)
